The whole idea of diversifying, dollar-cost averaging, rebalancing your portfolio, asset allocation are techniques that have been shown with a range of probability to be techniques that win out over long periods of investing.
I wonder of all the people out there who lost money, were they holding a stock % of [110%-age], were they gradually shifting money into cash so that if something like this was to happen that their stocks had time to recover before they would need to dip into them? Were they in the right investments for the right goals?
