Well, happy new year! I hope the new year brings you many great things!
Since I graduated from college, I have been focusing on the blog intensely and I hope that it shows. I am going to be pretty aggressive with my goals for 2009 because I am starting a new stage in my life. Here are my goals for 2009:
1. Continue to Write 10 Posts Per Week on This Site
This one is rather aggressive, but very doable. I want to continue to write about one original post per day as well as a news story that either pertains to my personal situation or to you readers. I am currently working from home, so the time to work on this goal is there. If for some reason I have to get a new job in the future, this may become more difficult.
2. Start New Blogs
I am really beginning to love writing. So much that I am starting some new blogs for the new year. I will be very honest with you in saying that I am a HUGE sports fan. I love every team in Pittsburgh including the Penguins, Steelers and Pirates (although they have had 16 straight losing seasons). Pittsburgh is the ultimate sports city for me because they do not have a basketball team. I do not like professional basketball. Anyway, if you are a fan of Pittsburgh sports I will be starting The Steelers Blog and The Bucs Blog next week. You can go to the sites now and subscribe to the feed. There is no content there yet and the site isn’t the way I would like it but at least you can sign up. On those sites I will be giving opinions on the teams news, games, etc. Even if you are fan of one of their rivals, you should sign up as I will be commenting on other teams in their divisions.
I will also be starting a blog titled My Body Relationship. On this site I will talk about my struggle with an addiction to soda (it’s true!) and beginning to get into shape. I have let myself slip over the past few years and it is beginning to show. I will document my weight, etc. on the site and hope you will join me in my journey.
3. Make a Career That I Love
As I mentioned earlier, I will be working from home over the next few months. I will be working on helping an individual market their financial education firm. I think it is great opportunity for me as it deals with my passion for financial education. I am hoping that it turns into much more and becomes something that I love doing.
4. Sit for and Pass The Certified Financial Planner™ Examination
This is the toughest exam in terms of financial planning. It goes over every aspect of financial planning that you can think of. The exam is a few hundred dollars to take and less than 50% of takers pass. Earning this designation would be one of the most prestigious things I have done.
These are just a few things that I could think of as of now. If more should arise, you would be the first to know! I will be doing a personal finance goals of 2009 next week.

Good goals - writing often on the blog is a must, especially when you’re first starting out. having 4 blogs is ambitious, but if you think you can do it, go for it!
I think it is important to work at something you love. I hear many people at the office that don’t like what they do. On the other hand it is very important to pay the bills each month.
